Thanks, and I agree, this one looks meaner than that single barreled version…
Added some layers to the base, starting to take shape now…
And added a couple of washes to the M3
And the figures are nearly done…

Really enjoying this Bert. I think that half track is your best work on this dio - looks superb, really nice. You’ve got a quite unusual style in how you weather and present models and it is really refreshing, I am learning a lot from watching this beast of a dio take shape. In particular how you use washes to add panel and bolt detail but also adding shadows and grime passes with it, its really cool to see and I am 100% going to be a bit more open minded in how I use them myself moving forward, they look really convincing in the way you use them. I tend to go straight to weathering, dust and mud in my builds and when I try to add dirt and grime it makes it look confused and takes away from the feel of the build so I don’t do it enough, which is to my detriment in some builds I feel.
Keep the updates coming mate, thanks for your hard work. Greetings from Rotterdam, btw.
Hi Chris, thanks very much!
I must say that I am still learning, that’'s why there is a difference in this last one and say the first M3… each time I discover new things or ways to do something, like I am using oils now more than those ready made up AK bottles.
The other thing why my builds look different from most models is that I don’t really build exact to history of 100% accurate to the real vehicles, I build the way I like things to look…
Nice to know that someone is learning something from me
Greetings back from Bovenkarspel
BTW I have seen some of your builds on this site, and hope to get your level some time
Very nice of you to say mate. I think if we enjoy each other’s builds, learn some things, then that is why we come on these websites. I get a lot of enjoyment on this site for sure.
What’s next for you after the half track?
After the halftrack probably something for the artillery group build… and the base for this diorama ofcourse… and I am busy with a M113 and Pr 765 in KMAR colours…
Highlighting bollts and edges… and there are a lot of them… on the gun…
on the outside of the M3…
Some drybrushing the stowage…
ANd last details on the figures done…
Now onto those bolts and edges inside the M3…
Finally finished the inside …
And the chipping of the underarriage…
So tomorrow chipping the outside … and then dirt, sand and dust…
Brilliant work, love it!
Another epic thread I missed keeping up with whilst away. Incredible amount of work done. I saw several groups of POWs like that during our advance in Desert Storm. Nice,
J
Did I miss the final images of this amazing diorama?
Not yet, I have been doing all kinds of other stuff in between, but am still working on this one…
This has developed and built up to a spectacular level Bert. The twin AA is lovely and finished superbly… The crew really add so much as well…looking forward to seeing the base setting get built up … This will be another classic to add to the LAV Dio you did … Great work on all of it
