Does anyone have suggestions for foliage/bushes/trees? what brands do you guys like?

There’s a few but depends on location you want and time frame. So season first then location to decide if you want trees in full greenery, with autumnal coloured leaves, without leaves or evergreen trees. Are you doing bushes etc…, too or just trees? You could maybe have some trees and then also maybe branches piled up being stripped down for fire wood.
RT Diorama has some good products, particularly their recent range of branches used for camouflage for vehicles. They’re a German company;
Also there is Presepe which is an Italian company. Also a great range;

The mission creep is real!
I took a little break and built a half track, and now I’m about to attempt a scratchbuild of a farmhouse(or barn) wall, with a stone wall attached.

Progress report.
Still kinda throwing everything against the wall, but I’m liking the new setup. makeup sponges and backyard weeds standing in for hedges and trees. crude outline of the farmhouse and road. Still hunting some figs who can be standing in line for chow. As always, your comments and suggestions are more than welcome.

Found out i’m not a figure painter! It’s been frustrating, and gratifying, to dive in to doing faces. yeeeesshhh. hahaha.
Also made a few more immersion heaters. I think I’m going to give the GI cans another go.
they’re pretty crude, but I think they’ll do kind of tucked away in the scene.
and lastly, some stowage finished for the Half track in the scene.

For trees look at dzrewamodelarstwo.pl . Someone mentioned them on another thread but I can’t remember where. Your scene is looking good. You should be a master figure painter after you finish with all those soldiers!

The hair on the bareheaded figures looks too uniform. I have not the skill to say what to do. Given the expertise of the rest of the work, the hair needs work. The figures look very dark. Is that just the lighting?

I agree with you about the hair….I’ve been teetering on trying to fix it up, but I’m afraid I might ruin the whole thing.
Yes, It’s mostly the lighting, as one of my lamps was off without my knowledge. I’m sure I’ll have some updates with fixes(fingers crossed)

The figures are excellent, as are the various interactions. I think the only issue is relatively minor and easily rectified – it’s our constant friend (and enemy) Scale Colour.
When you look at photos of real guys at the approximate distance of your photos (say 10 metres or so), their hair colour is rarely as intense, it’s washed out by daylight reflecting off it & distance. Especially the dark hair. So I’d just try a very thin wash of light grey (on all heads) and see what that does, if negligible try another one.
