Perfect.
Let’s you and I build ours. It will be a perfect tribute for Veterans Day. All I’ve done is about five minutes of sanding on the seats. You can use TLC. I’ll use elbow grease. Or vice versa. I’m sure yours will “come out looking great.”
You can feel free to use Cobra Company and Fireball Modelworks update sets for the interior, decals, and proper M23 doorgun mounts if you like. I will use none,
I propose an “unveiling” at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, You even get a head start as I still can’t use my right hand.
Sounds like a perfect idea for a mini-campaign.
Everyone is invited to join and build something for Veterans Day 2024
It doesn’t necessarily have to be a helicopter even if it would be cool to see a lineup of Hueys
I thought as much. Although I thought five weeks would be plenty of time for you seeing as you recently knocked out an entire build in little more than a weekend. I mean, less the bogus gun parts that are incorrect for the kit, that’s about 75 parts total. About two parts per day.
Ah well, I’m glad to see you still have time to post here regularly while you’re at work.
Even so, I’ll see how far I can get with it before Veterans Day once I regain the use of my hand. What a shame. It would have been interesting.
Anyone else interested?
You’ve met me. Do I look like the kind of guy who cares about things like rules?
Actually, it was Robin who suggested a campaign, which I think is a great idea. Apparently five weeks is not enough to build a 70’s era Revell kit, so perhaps we can talk to the campaign guru. I would suggest a simple “Veterans Tribute” campaign. Choose a veteran, living or dead, and build something connected to him/her. That’s it. Ground vehicle, ship, figure, airplane. I don’t care. Set Nov.11. 2025 as the deadline. I’ve already done this before of a friend’s brother: (it’s the 12th post down in the thread)
And wanted to do one I mentioned earlier in the thread for my friend Jim, but he died. I’d like to finish it for his wife.
Well flesh out the idea and post it in the staging area in the campaigns section and if you get enough responses/interest then it should get the go ahead.
@18bravo, yep it’s there. i’ve tweaked it to put your username in it as well as adding any scale is welcome.
I’ve just finished a 15 hour night shift so the brain is a little fuzzy on how to add the going/not going buttons…hit up Robin aka uncle heavy to help there as i am off to bed for a few hours.
Technically Cobra was sold to LoneStar Models but he has a rough go of late and not really in stock.
Joseph at Fireball was still selling some Huey bits on shapeways but they have closed.
Second hand sources/ebay is your option. Companies like Werner Wings, Reskit, Flying Leathernecks have replaced some of the missing items with their own products.
I got the Werners update for my AH-1G to a 1F. The kit is superb and deffo recommend them. Best to email and ask what he has as well, as the website may say out of stock but they’ll be able to do a run
But the real news is what’s on the horizon for armor modelers. Guaranteed to bring some smiles.
Remember a decade ago ago if I issued a WARNO things happened? Well, they’re happening again!
Another trip to another location planned in two weeks. We were going to another dude ranch but the whole shoulder thing sort of put a damper on that. Which explains why I’m still up at this late hour - I refuse to take any more prescription pain meds. I have my own remedy.
But since we had already made travel arrangements, why not? As long as I’m willing to buy my wife Korean food for lunch, the sky is the limit.
Enjoying this fabulous day off - plenty of time for modelling! Am waiting for Milliput from another project to harden. Even though my challenge was rebuffed, I want to eventually finish this Huey.
Someone sent me some spare doors, but I decided to purchase another kit for extra doors. After some cutting, and repositioning, I have a correct door with two windows of the same dimensions.
The seams appear worse than they are - they are glass smooth. That’s just super glue showing as a different color. As I said earlier, when you’re busting out the rotary saw, you’re just a tad past TLC needed for the fix.
