What did the Torpedo hit?

Probably a Mark 14 torpedo… it was troubled with premature detonation…

Or did they have a self-destruct function? If it missed and went a set time or distance it blew it self up. I know RPG-7 rounds, after the go X number of meters go kaboom on their own.
