I was part of the 55th artillery battalion from day one until my 83 then went to the 449 reserve brigade . The time I. Lebanon was an interesting one for me. The politics of the country was very hard to understand it first but then you sort of got it. The second part of my service there was protecting the druze from the Christians and both of them from the terrorists that filled the vacuum the PLO left when they evacuated Beirut.

@Robert_Goldman; i can only imagine the situation you were in. Probably hard to keep track of who’s who in that mess. Where you in Lebanon during the South Lebanon War of 85?

For a little bit. Not full time. Just a quick in and out or a few days. Spent the rest of 85-87 dealing with explosives at the airport.. bomb detection and removal . Fun gig when you’re young and dumb. Cause it was a plain clothes Iggy so as to not freak out the travelers ..

Got sent to Gaza after that .. I requested Lebanon but nope Gaza city..
