I am looking to build a early M1A1 with the T156 tracks which i have a set of and i have a RFM M1A1 kit the problem is the road wheels i know the ones on the Rye Field kit is wrong for a early A1
I know the Tamiya wheels but they wont fit the ryefield kit ,what about the wheels from the Meng Abrams?
If being incorrect for an early Abrams you mean the rubber tire portion being thicker on the earlier road wheels then, no, the Meng parts aren’t suitable either. Another option might be the wheels from the Dragon M1 Panther 2 mine clearance vehicle kit, either way you’d have to make some modifications to get the parts to fit.
But arnt the wheels the same on the the dragon kit as well?
Panther II were built from M1 hills so I imagine they kept the original road wheels
Tamiya on left, Dragon on right which appears larger as it’s sitting on top of bagged sprues.Do you have a pic of the back of the dragon wheels? I dont rememeber what the back of the dragon wheels look like
Dont think that will wotk on the rye field kit
If anybody is parting out the panther kit, I lost one of the roller parts when building mine and am interested in obtaining a new one.
Are you sure the Rye Field road wheels are wrong? I was under the impression the early wheels with the thicker tires were only used on the M1.
I’m referencing this book: M1, M1IP, M1A1 Abrams Main Battle Tank (Warmachines, No. 6): Verlinden, Francois: 9789070932268: Amazon.com: Books
I’m thinking you are correct, https://vodnik.net/pages/M1A2comp/m1a2comp_02.htm
Nice find.
