Does this part…

Go hand in hand with this part on the real vehicle?

Yes, it does. I scratchbuilt this one for my Tamiya M1A2 TUSK.

You can see that part in this photo.

This is the original.

Great build. What brand paint and color did you use for the sand?

Thanks. I used Testors brand FS 33722 “Modern Desert Sand” from a rattle can to paint my Abrams.

The sand looks great! Did you spray it over a primer? If so, what color primer did you use?

Didn’t use a primer, or any preshading.

That color is really hard to find now, I think I got the last can on earth, all my desert sand vehicles are in that exact color, I’m in so deep now I can’t change without everything looking different

I’m in the same boat, and it’s sinking. Testors was my preferred brand for a long time. But their Flat OD is still available so I’m good for WW2 US subjects at least.

Thanks for the info. I tried looking for that Testors FS33722 and as JJohnson said, hard to find. I have different brands of FS33531 and FS33446 and neither of them look correct to me. Yours looks the closest but not available anymore.

I’m saving several projects to paint at one time, from my last can. I decanter the paint and shoot it through my airbrush, less overspray and I assume I’m using less and stretching it out a bit more.
I’m sooo thankful the US Army is painting much of its vehicles green and NATO three tone nowadays

Nice that you still have a can on hand. Looking forward to seeing yours painted with the FS33722.

Anyone use this AK11871 USMC Sand FS33711 for modern armor or is this an older color before OIF?
