Woo Hoo! Back around 1983 in Fort Hood I was riding in the back of one, no roll cage, going very fast. We didn’t roll but hit a big bump and nearly threw everyone out of the vehicle.

That’s pretty sweet.
Ouch! Sounds like a rough day!
Ken
Lost a few teeth I was sitting in the back seat woke up in the driver’s seat and a few burns.
But I stayed in
Thank you.
I added an M60 mount, which is tied down with bungees to the light.
Also added cushions/covers to the seats.
The inspirations:
Interesting how the Ranger gun jeep in that photo has stretchers on the hood… I’m curious who the guy in civvies is too…
CIA maybe? Or a hippie just hitching a ride lol
He may be one of the “evacuated/rescued” medical students too.
Yeah almost forgot about them lol
He’s either a movie producer or OGA.
Why does the driver have a helmet but the others not?
You gotta be a Ranger to sport a PC like they are.
Besides, to this day the Army still has a policy that all tactical vehicle drivers must wear a helmet.
The full beard and apparent age tells me more than one of tne students… perhaps one of the school staff. But the Ranger crew of the gun jeep look quite at ease with him at the same time…
The civilian looking guy is most likely what they call A “Tourist” which translates to agency spook. And with that beard he looks the part.
Yes, I crossed paths with the type a few times. First name basis only, and info exchanged was a one way channel…
Now which one could it be?
Doyle’s book on M151 says Navy personnel in the caption for the same photo.
The seated three guys are clearly Rangers. The standing one is hard to make out…
Go figure…
