I need to build a M60A1 for a commission build and Iwant to do a pre RISE upgrade
in the old ovewrall dark OD and full white markings would it be safe to assume that any of the Italeri or AMT/Ertl kits are a good choice as they dont appear to have the chin armor?
You want the kit that has the side loading air cleaners and not the top loading.
The older Tamiya M60A1 kit is not a rise passive.
The Italeri is also a non RISE Passive model.
The AMT/Ertl is also non RISE Passive
If you want more, crisp detail, try getting an newer M60 kit and put an M60a1 turret on.
I am leaning towards either the Italeri Kit or AMT which ever i can get at a good price just wasnt sure bout the turret and im hoping to get my hands on a good viable sheet of decals from either the that ancient Tamiya M60A1 or the AMT kit
Dont AFV Club and Takom kits fit the bill? Both have side loaders.
no i want to do a very early Pre RISE M60A1 when they were painted in the overall dark od
both of those have the chin armor that was added on Rise tanks to eliminate that shot trap
The pre RISE Passive tanks were converted to RISE Passive over time so you would see a mix of turret types with RISE Passive.
In that case check the Italeri kit before buying, I think it has the chin as well.
It wasn’t increased armor around the “chin” but around the circumference of the turret.
I liked the ERTL/ESCI kit myself. I used parts of that kit to make the Tamiya M60A1 ERA. The ERTL/ESCI kit had more detail.
Sean is talking about the turret ring.
If you use a Tamiya kit, make sure there is only a fuel filler cap on the right side.
And add the support struts to the headlight guards.
The Italeri kit is a rebox of the ESCI kit.
