I imagine that having to put out a bunch of fires in fields full of wheat, in forests, etc. every exercise, and paying compensation for hectares of lost crops due to those fires, also didn’t encourage issuing smoke grenades for exercises.
We used them stateside at Ft Polk on occasion. But yes, they are a bit dangerous to use, so it wasn’t too often.
Hey Ken,
As note on the smoke grenade dischargers you may want to take a look at a DEF detail set DEFDE35015 1:35 DEF Model US M1A2 Abrams SEP Basic PE Detail Up Set.
Well, what do you know, someone actually made a set! Only took 'em 50 years!
Ken
Very nicely done. And as mentioined, the peeling placard is a nice touch.
I’m afraid I may have to take a small amount of credit for that.
After all, you don’t often see old school suspenders being used to secure a water can…
The covers:
Interesting. All this time I’ve thought it was from suspenders.
At least they used it.
ALICE belt suspenders have a horizontal section at the point where the straps come together, and the angle is much bigger than here. The bit that goes over the shoulders is also much thicker than the vertical straps front and back.
I haven’t worn them since 1998, so I guess I’ll have to defer to your knowledge on that one.
Nope, @18bravo is referring to the suspenders for Field Pants, which the “strap” over the water can indeed is. AFAIK, field pants haven’t been issued since the late 80’s. But I guess they found a great alternate use for the leftover suspenders.
Now that is an excellent build, paint scheme and superb weathering …Stowage is very well done, and I know the doss bags and coke box may be a bit out of period… But hey, we work with what we have on hand…
And for me, and it may seem silly and a very small detail, but the bit I love the best … The folded back call sign … That’s very clever
That M151 is the best I’ve ever seen. Perhaps even the best US soft skin I’ve seen. The smudges on the windshield, the antenna tie downs - everything is first rate.
I’m down with that. This particular Bradley has been on my list for while I’ve have dozens, so why not?
Outstanding job on the M151! I thought it was a real pic !
I did REFORGER in the spring and it was so wet that after a bit, we couldn’t maneuver off road. What a disappointment.
We desperately need US Cold War tank crews, wearing parkas and wet weather gear
Miniart makes a nice set that can be converted easily enough. I’d post a photo but I hate doing that from my phone.
What’s the kit number? I’ll look it up
I believe he’s referring to 37005. 37008 is the USMC version while 37049 is USMC at play instead of making the boom boom.
35245 is the number
