That would work well for the inside frame details as well.

Sometimes it is easier to mask the frames that need to be painted; Then fill up the “glass” sections with maskol, and before that maskol is dry, remove the masks on the frames.
you need to work fast with the maskol and the removing, but it works
another trick, buy water decal paper and airbrush the correct color on it.
cut strips and put them on the canopy frames. Sometimes you need to put two decals on top of each other because the background is transparent

Three posts up. But as Tank_1812 says, if the model is large enough in scale you can do the interior part of the frames as well (zinc chromate or whatever is appropriate) so that there’s no need to double up the outside.
