Next up, some IDF action… First dive into IDF armour so looking forward to it. It will be OOB and not sure if I’m going to add the mine roller yet.
Why not? It would look unique in the collection.
True … you talked me into it … also, I am going to have to do the anti slip as that is so prominent on the wagons. Ant I dont think the spray can rustoleum will work on this as that will hide the bolt detailing all over the turret and hull … I think Nikos @gtdeath13 had a good way of doing this … hopefully he will read this thread
I don’t know what his method is, but you’re right - with IDF tanks the spray can is not always your best friend. Some texture is fairly uniform. Some looks as if it were scsattered by hand, which is exactly how I do mine, You don’t need some sort of aftermarket product either - just diluted PVA or even wet paint,
For masking, I use a punch and making tape. It is much easier to do if you put the tape (I use blue painters tape) on a sheet of styrene. After you punch out a bunch of discs you can easily peel the tape off of its plastic “backing.”
At any rate, looking forward to it as usual.
Who summons me during my modelling sleep?
Trigger photos for the mine roller:
For the antiskid it is easy, some mr surfacer 1200, choose the appropriate aquarium sand or whatever one can find and then prime.
Before primer
primed
Take in mind that the surface is a bit rough because I use many paint layers and varnishes so I have to make up for that.
And I am back to sleep…
Good advice
Looks way better than sprayed.
Perfect … Sleep well oh great one
Following
Before I get started, I thought I’d go through the contents…
It’s a pretty full box !
A nice little set of historical info cards for the Merkava.
Nicely presented instruction booklet
PE fret , chain, tow rope and decals
Separate turret top and bottom
Separate hull top
8 vehicle sprues
2 track link sprues
2 small clear sprues
And 3 sprues for the mine roller.
Lots of plastic !
Go 3D!
lol … wheres both of your’s sense of adventure
Wrong !! I of course did the IDF Centurion Sho’t Kal Alef a while ago
It ran screaming from the house when it saw those tracks. Just how many pieces are there for each link?
Lol… Only 2 pieces per link, and 196 sides on each sprue… Once I get into the routine, it shouldn’t be to bad… Detailing looks good on them as well.
Also, detailing throughout looks nice and crisp… Turret chain / ball…
And part of the Comds MG mount
That chain armour looks nice. I used the kit version when I built my Mk2, etch doesn’t cut it and the chain and ball you have to put together would have finished me off.
I mentioned only 2 parts per link ..
Let’s up that to 7 parts per wheel station … Yay
Also, there a small amount of texture on the hull … But I imagine the primer would cover that up ..
why!!! why do they do this to us.
7 parts is a bit excessive I think
