MiniArt Panzer Crew. France 1944 | Armorama™

Yep, 35283 is definitely Heer, not SS. Interestingly, the figure second from the left on the box art is shown wearing a jacket made in SS camo material, but he’s definitely Wehrmacht. I know the photo this is based on well and in over 50 years of researching WW2 German forces in general and the SS in particular, it is the only instance I can find of a photograph of a Heer soldier wearing SS camo. The jacket is privately tailored, probably from Zeltbahn material.

Left arm eagles = SS. End of story.

Yes, this happened. There is a testimony in the 9SS unit history from a member who saw two wounded Wehrmacht tank crewmen wearing the Black Panzer uniform shot out of hand by Polish troops in a field hospital where he was lying wounded. He escaped execution because he was wearing camo, so was not perceived as SS - ironic!

Interestingly, today I rediscovered online photos of Wilhelm Mohnke and other high ranking 12SS wearing a similarly cut jacket in Italian camo.
