Anyone know the status of this model? Was supposed to come out a year ago but I have missed it if it came out. Was really looking forward to this to complete my German Flak collection.

Thanks for that! I was under the impression that the Modelcollect was injection molded. Was it 3D printed?

Don’t hold your breath waiting for it. Like a large number of other future Modelcollect kits, this is pretty much vaporware and won’t see the light of day. The TDW kit looks promising. Check out the website. It’s listed at 59.99 €.

I’ve often wondered why the Germans (Nazis) didn’t develop this gun for a KWK or PAK version, similarly as they did with the FLAK 8.8. It would have been able to take out any existing Allied or Soviet armor at any visible range, and would have been more practicale and convenient to use than the huge 12.8 cm. gun.

They did develop the 12,8cm PaK 44 in 1943. I suppose that they didn’t think they’d need the extra penetration at extreme range until late in the war when the Russians were fielding heavier tanks. Krupp proposed a 10,5cm L/68 gun as an upgrade for the Tiger II, but it was not derived from the 10,5cm Flak 38, and would have been unique in the German arsenal; the Heer, displaying a rare bit of rationality, declined to further complicate the logistics of ammunition supply.
