The SEP V3 is the most current version.
I literally just ordered the Rye Field M1A1 1991 and M1A1 FEP from Andy’s, Merry Christmas to me
Oh my. I do hope I’ve started a trend.
Ryefield and Meng by a longshot.
Meng M1A2 SEP TUSK II before i added decals.
The Tamiya Abrams build nicely, but soft on details.
Dont know if you know this but ther hull is longer that the rye field Abrams and tamiya took short cuts on the turret using the same turret as their earlier M1 and midified it for the M1A1
for cold war units go that operated the M1A1 most transitioned from either the M60A1 RISE or M60A3 Echelon may have some usable markings but for the cold war I dougt it if you have some markings from a US Army M60A1 rise or M60A3 in black those would work
3rd Armored DIV
1st ARMORED DIV
2nd ARMORED DIV ( 1 brigade forward deployed to Germany)
3rd INF DIV
not sure on the 2nd and 11th ACR
this book if you can find it is a great reference for Abrams units in germany during the cold war
with all the Abrams iv built from the A1 to the Abrams X it makes me want to build the M1 and IPM1
DO it. But go with the Panda kit, unless you want to enjoy the same kind of low-level anxiety I enjoyed while kitbashing my IPM1.
Is it just me or does the “soldier” in the box art look like Michael Dukakis during his ill-fated romp as a tanker?
i did the same but i built it twice
Are AFV Club M1A & A2 Bigfoot Tracks (Workable) correct for a Dragon M1A1 AIM?
Yes, perfect for it.
I did the RFM kit last month. pretty decent, but the tracks were a little tricky. Otherwise nicely detailed kit.
What kind of Abrams is this?
The tank was named by Captain Jillian Collins. The picture must have been taken sometime between 2016 and 2020. I do not know the unit or location.
Looks like an M1A1 w/SCWS (Stabilized Commander’s Weapons Station). The terrain looks like NTC, Ft Irwin, CA.
Rye Field makes the SCWS in their USMC M1A1 FEP, Polish M1A1, and Ukraine M1A1 kits.
Thank you very much for your help with both questions.
While we’re talking Abrams. I have a question. A very long time ago, I built an M1A1, I believe it was a Tamiya kit. I built it to represent an Abrams during Desert Storm. But there is one thing that bothers me. I built that kit with sprocket rings, and never gave it a thought. However since building it, a vast amount of information has come out concerning tanks of that era. And I’ve noticed that many of the M1A1s which were used, did not have the sprocket rings. So what’s the deal? Do I need to rip off the sprocket rings?
Thanks
