Another great tour Yuri, thank you. What is that in the last photo on the right? Is it a ball-tank, or some kind of bouncing bomb?
Be patient, it will be explained in the next episode.
The rules of long-running series have not been repealed: end the episode on a cliffhanger to ensure viewers come back for the next one. ![]()
Of course, silly me ![]()
A couple of space capsules, perhaps?

During my visits to many museums in our country, I came to the firm conviction that everything that falls from space is immediately distributed among a variety of museums.
One of them even has an observation deck,
you can climb up and take a look,
if a wrench accidentally ends up in your pocket.
We still have a few planes,
two of which are training aircraft: L-29 βDolphinβ and L-39 βAlbatrossβ,
and one Su-25 β in which it seems you can get into the cockpit.
Unlike the T-34 tank, there is no poster nearby with the conditions and cost of visiting. So only visually, through a rather blurry glass.
There, by the way, are also not very frequent benches in this park, which by this time are simply urgently needed.
There was a bit of ground support equipment, but compared to the planes, it didnβt really impress anyone and didnβt attract any attention.
On the subject of βFriendsβ, I have never watched any episodes including βThe Oneβ.
As you may have guessed, today is an important national holiday in Russia and several other countries (Happy Victory Day!). We will continue our tour, but I expect to return to the topic of this festive day later β and not alone, but together with you.
If there are aircraft, then there must be anti-aircraft weapons somewhere. We looked at barrel anti-aircraft artillery at the beginning, and now itβs the turn of rocket artillery.
Letβs start with stationary ones. The S-75 is a long-standing and frequently encountered acquaintance, so Iβll describe it briefly.
Whenever I see the S-125 system, which happens quite often, I always think back to my student years and the military department where I was trained to be a launch platoon commander. I canβt remember anything else about this complex.
So letβs move on to mobile systems. The Kub air defense missile system launcher is likely familiar to many.
I know about it because I built a model of it. Nothing more. But I saw the second component of the complex for the first time.
As well as the third.
Transporter-loader vehicles are a rare sight on museum sites. And thatβs a shame, as they add a certain completeness to the complexβs structure.
The lack of explanatory plaques for the exhibits in the report isnβt always my fault. Sometimes museum staff screw up, too. Like, for example, with the Krug air defense system. Iβm providing a photo as proof, so as not to be unfounded.
Since I have such a kit for assembly, I examined the prototype in a little more detail.
I never paid attention to the fact that the Β«extraΒ» planes of the rockets in the transport position are removed from the rockets and stored separately.
Itβs good that I came by!
Also because I didnβt know such a cutie existed before.
I can only drool over the kit model of the next product. Not so much because of the price, although that plays a role, but because of the fear of screwing it up.
Its antenna, of course, isnβt as ornate as the radar postβs, but itβs impressive. Thank God, there are no radar models.
I donβt know why itβs located here exactly, but thereβs a monument called βA Ticket to Life. Dedicated to the Fight Against Child Homelessnessβ next to the radar station.
A famous historical episode after the Civil War.
In addition to the air defense system group, the area hosts other missile complexes as well
P.S. But more on that tomorrow, for now I went to watch the live broadcast of the Victory Parade.
but operational-tactical and tactical.
We can walk around and take a closer look at the following missile systems:
The area free of complexes was filled with missiles and their containers.
These two missile sites are separated by another urban viewpoint with an installed cannon.
Today is the weekend in our country, so I will continue publishing.
I decided to take a shortcut on my way back and walked not along the wide paved alley, but through the bushes. And not in vain, there is something to see there.
Including a single mortar.
Having seen this Frankenstein from afar, I first complained about the museum staff β they sometimes take liberties with us,
but then I realized that they had nothing to do with it and it wasnβt their invention.
Some exhibits require careful searching among the trees and bushes.
Then I made my way to the Alley of Military Glory of Russia.
on one side of it, stretching to the horizon, are photographs of war veterans and participants.
Text: Thank you for the Victory!
and on the other, a row of monuments to famous Russian military leaders.
Nearby, there is a church, quite traditional for such places.
and the monument to βFellow Countrymen Who Died in Local Warsβ around which landscaping is being completed.
This park not only has an outdoor exhibition, but also a museum building with the same name.
When entering the large central hall, what immediately catches your eye is an airplane.
Moreover, everyone honestly admits that itβs a model. And the visitor understands that the emphasis, whenever possible, is on products manufactured in this city. A little later you meet another one.
And here it is hinted that this is no longer a model at all.
The Karlik tractor, which would have been a good place to start the review because chronologically it was earlier, catches our eye a little later.
Samples of military-related products are also on display
and the means of its production.
But there are samples and weapons. The infantry heavy flamethrower appears twice, and this is despite the fact that I had never seen it before,
The period of the Great Patriotic War is presented quite briefly, but capaciously.
The poster reads: Β«Everything for Victory! From the women of the USSR to the front!Β«.
Here, the allies were not forgotten either.
The awning looks a bit odd. But I realized it was the first time Iβd ever seen a Willys with an awning.
There was also room for a more peaceful theme: the interiors of a classroom and living room from those days.
Text on the school board:
Hard in training - easy on the march,
Easy in training - hard on the march.
A.V. Suvorov
I donβt think thereβs much point in showing Soviet household appliances to foreign readers. Just for quick reference.
Warning sign reads: Caution! Video surveillance in progress.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, such museums also host temporary exhibitions to mark specific dates or events, which are then replaced by other themes.
One such exhibition is Β«Tragedy and Heroism. The 20th Century,Β» dedicated to local wars in which our country participated.
Quite recognizable geography, which does not particularly require decoding or explanation.
Some of the Β«declassifiedΒ» stuff.
Another exhibition is dedicated to the activities of the local Ministry of Emergency Situations.
But the marine theme is not clear here. Yes, the city is on a large river, but itβs not on the sea!
Although it wonβt be superfluous for general development.
There are generally small exhibitions, such as this one, Β«Melee Weapons.Β»
Very often, such museums allocate some space for the work of local modelists.
Text: Hero of the Battle of Kursk.
Since the selection of temporary exhibitions is always different, you can visit the museum on a regular basis to see something new.
Personally, I would go to the second floor one more time.
The exhibition is designed in such a way that it seems as if the exhibits are locked behind bars at night to prevent them from escaping.
There are some interesting things there.
Even the street bins are heavily armed!
So we have finished looking at the military component of this museum. But here, unlike the vast majority of similar sites, sufficient attention is also given to labor valor.
Given the specific nature of the surrounding terrain (steppe), this is agriculture. And its main driving force is tractors.
And we will begin with the classic iron horse β the hero of the first five-year plans of Soviet power.
There are two of them here.
The inscription on the tractor: Red Plowman.
A pair of their wheeled descendants with rubber tires.
And the crowning glory of the direction is the wheeled giant K-700.
It is not always possible to drive through our fields on wheels, so we also have tracked tractors.
It goes without saying that they donβt just drive across the fields, but drag some kind of towing devices.
The range of which is large and varied.
Nevertheless, the real horses were not left out.
There are also some truly monstrous trailers.
So much so that it is easier to firmly merge them with a tractor, obtaining the next class of agricultural machinery β a combine harvester.
The equipment was made with βcareβ for the Soviet peasant. (Sarcasm, by the way.)
Itβs good that at least they thought to make a covered cabin in the next modification.
Accordingly, the results of the activity must be removed from under all this equipment.
If I were their parents, I would sometimes turn on my brain,
and he didnβt allow children to climb into really scary places.
It even looks creepy in the photo!
In order for a wide variety of equipment to move across the field, it needs to be leveled.
The first stage is carried out by a strange device with a strange name β a scraper, which can be either self-propelled or trailer-mounted.
Large holes are removed with a bulldozer.
The final alignment of the profile is carried out by graders.
And only then do they begin to systematically disfigure this flat surface with canals and trenches, forming an irrigation network. This can be done the old-fashioned way,
or you can entrust it to a handsome like this.
Well, the last of the diggers.
I had a high school teacher who was shot down by a S-75 during Vietnam. He told us they called them βflying telephone polesβ because of their size.
