I need help if anyone has had this same problem or knows how to fix it. I built an initial production Tiger 1 in the Leningrad region with whitewash and ice/snow in an ambush position. Everything went together well until I added the fresh snow mixed with AK Interactive microballons and snow sprinkles. And everything looks good except the side/lower hull where for some reason the MIG pigments bled through looking like the Germans were peeing off the side of the tank. It’s yellowish! I don’t know how to fix this without making it worse. I was going to get a shader from AMMO by Mig, but they don’t make white. Also researching on AI, was told to reactivate the pigments underneath otherwise it’ll just bless through again or make it worse. Anyone have any ideas? White oil washes, white pigment over it, seal it with gloss then re-apply? if anyone had any ideas could you please share them? First time working with snow.
But wouldn’t adding acrylic white just take away from seeing the micro “crystals” of the snow? I’ve narrowed it down to either dusting with AK white pigments then applying a thinned down solution of PVA glue then sprinkling on some dry snow over it, or applying some dry white oil paint then carefully painting some tamiya clear once it’s dry. I really wish I could add the photo so everyone could see what I’m talking about. But thanks for the suggestions so far!
I’d seal it up with thinned down PVA first, then add in the “new” snow. You also might want to consider using white chalk, or chalk pastels - they are a whole lot cheaper than “dedicated” modeling pigments. Frustrating problem, best of luck.
Thanks so much for the advice guys! I saved it!! I applied a mixture of PVA glue and water, 4:1, then sprinkled the new fresh snow with a small shaker bottle. Little at a time.i don’t know why I didn’t use this technique in the beginning with the fresh snow. But I thank you guys who responded! and any positive criticism is welcomed. Like I said, my first snow job and I don’t think I want another one! I’ll include pics of the repaired version and the disaster that I had.
