Thats one long turret

There are a lot of Leopard 2 variants in styrene these days; at some point the back end of the turret will end up jutting PAST the rear of the hull itself.

Might be fun to mount a 1/35 Leo 2 turret on 1/48 or 1/72 scale Leo 2 hull as a joke

The Leopard 2 A6 turret is almost as long as the entire T-90 hull! They make Russian tanks look really puny! :face_with_spiral_eyes:

Got the kit yesterday, and it’s beautiful! As noted, the vent slots on the left hull side are wrong. There should be 8 slots, but the kit has 11 slots that are more narrow than on the real thing. Not sure how Tamiya messed this up, unless there are variations, although I’ve only seen pictures of the 8 slot one. The only other nits are that the plastic tow cables seem a little thin and the MG3 muzzle isn’t hollowed out. For price, it was $45 plus $10 shipping from Scale Hobbyist.

Also got the metal barrel, but think it’s a waste of money. It’s an exact copy of the one piece plastic barrel with no additional detail. You still add the plastic muzzle part and plastic fume extractor, which is in two parts are requires the seam to be eliminated. The only thing you’re saving with the metal barrel is removing the faint mold parting line present on the plastic barrel.

Amen to that. I usually have a long term kit going and 1-2 “Easier” kits in play.

I saw the kit while visiting a friend. Despite the vent slot issue, I will definitly get one.

I compared all three* on a parts / molds basic vs. the current configuration.
Tamiya:
It is best if you accept the ‘off road modus’**, the good but not outstanding details, the missing device to support track uptake, and the wrong slots/fins number at the chassis sidewall.
It has a turret hatch crew and the latest configuration of boxes, brackets, and tools - excluded: track uptake support device.
It has a bending supports for the brass parts of the storage baskets.

*Tamiya, Border, RFM
**No rotating flashing light.
Rear mud guards are foreseen for the turret side brackets, not the chassis rear. e856391f23a75bc27564da24c63a9a467580713a_2_690x460

Do you think any of those you mentioned can be 3D printed? If they’re not overly complicated and there is enough reference data, I am willing to CAD and 3D print those parts.

I ordered mine from Amazon out of all places because I had an Amazon gift card balance. It’s on the way to me via UPS to arrive in 2 days.
