No, just yours.

guys, easy going.

there always have been re-issues of pretty old kits, always and not only by Italeri - and maybe that has them keep going on, while others have vanished. It’s not gonna go away. So you either buy them or you don’t.

Well then…stop whining about just my post! I opened a discussion - you’re just whining.

I gotta tell y’all, I was totally joking above, didn’t mean to fan any flames, I love building old models, I just recently purchased all three of Tamiya’s US Half Tracks, I also recently finished their M41 Walker Bulldog and M48A3, with a ton of scratch building on all of them. Fun stuff, keeps your modeling brain active and you get a shelf full of old classics

If I was to pick up one of these (or any other old kit) at a show for real cheap, I would probably get one for a knocked out vehicle. But I wouldn’t pay a premium price for the re-re-re-release. Know what I mean? NOT whining!

Your not even living here in the U.S. so why should it even worry you?

3 things:

#1. I have US citizenship. it is a concern for me.
#2. I currently divide my time between the US & Ecuador. Right now, I am in the US working, so for the near future, it has an impact on me. Regardless, I will buy models in the US, put them in my suitcase, when traveling down.
#3. I don’t know how much you know about Ecuador, but the country does not have a functioning mail service. There are efforts to try to restore it, but I don’t have confidence in that. There are as far as I know 2 hobby stores in the entire country of 17 million people: in Cuenca & Guayaquil. The one in Guayaquil is pretty good, but it is more like a traditional (brick & mortar) hobby store that happens to do mail order as well. So they don’t always have what I want. As a consequence, I buy models from the US, & use a courier service (Laarbox, if you are interested). I ship the models to a warehouse in Florida, & then a courier brings them into country. I am limited to around $1300 I can self-import, before tariffs become an issue.

So regardless, tariffs in the US will have an impact on me.

I’ve been doing this hobby since I was 5. My dad built a Monogram F-5E for me, & got a bunch of snap tites for me to build. Eventually along the line I gravitated to armor, building Hasegawa 1/72 armor (which were good sized models in my smaller hands… When I built them as an adult, for nostalgia, the differences between my new reality & how I remembered them was a little shocking), early Tamiya, & going ever forward. This is a life-long love affair for me. Luckily my wife understands, even if she had no idea about models, because her family was never wealthy.

EDIT: Damon, I meant to post this as a general reply to some of the other threads above about the tariffs, not directly to you. Regardless, I think the following is interesting and May put to rest some of the fears about tariffs.

Last night I attended a presentation by a major model railroad manufacturer. Somebody asked about Trump’s election and tariffs on china. He said it did not matter last time around because model trains are considered toys, and toys were not included in tariffs. Don’t know the future and how things will shake out, but he is not concerned that tariffs against China will filter down into toys and that’s hobbies. I mean, this is not the EU tariffs on bananas that affect the toy industry several years ago.

This was one of the thoughts I had. I don’t want to get too political, but as far as modeling is concerned, great. Though my point still stands for other things

I should also add that I don’t necessarily have confidence in anything coming out of the new government, so I’m not counting on models being exempted until I can actually see the tariff proposal.

if you are complaining about that bypass that tariff and buy your kits on ebay directly from the Chinese seller I do it all the time

I live in Canada and I buy all my Chinese-made kits from China based ebay vendors. Note: only Chinese manufacturers are cheap; Japanese, and European brands have to be imported, and are therefore more expensive. Some people refer to ebay as “evil-bay”; I agree, buying from individuals can be iffy, but ebay has safeguards, and restrictions for the benefit of both buyer, and seller, handle conflicts, and have complete money-back guarantees in case of rip-offs. I don’t buy auction items any more - just “buy now” from reputable shops and vendors. As my preference is Flyhawk, Vespid, and some Border Models, kits, and are either expensive or hard to find locally, I shop with confidence with a handful of Chinese vendors. Delivery times vary and are dependent on the economical shipping rates (sometimes free shipping) - but I don’t mind waiting 3 - 4 weeks when I know I’m getting my purchases at the cheapest prices - sometimes 1/2 - 1/3 the cost of ordering the same kits from US, or Europe. But then, that’s just me.
