I was contemplating that. A nice shiny new (and excellent) RSO with their mediocre almost 50 yr old PAK 40!

There are currently 9 versions of the MiniArt RSO including one with the PaK 40!
I own the MiniArt RSO with a workshop in the bed. It is somewhat less crazy than most MiniArt models but, in my opinion, still pretty crazy for the vast majority of model builders.
In my opinion, the MiniArt RSO is for super modelers who demand accuracy. This new Tamiya model is for everyone else and will probably outsell all those MiniArt RSOs in, like, 6 months. Yes, I am pulling that number out of the air but every single model builder with a YouTube channel will feature this model. If it is nice build, and it will be, that will generate a lot of sales.
If I recall correctly… All Dragon RSOs have dimension issues. Some Itaeri RSOs have dimension issues but one or two are pretty good. Italeri RSOs are dinosaurs by modern standards and come with soft plastic tracks.
If you like archeology expeditions, the Italeri RSO is still fun. 99.99999% of people on planet Earth will never know a Dragon RSO is kinda off. MiniArt RSOs look beautiful in the box. Tamiya has so much brand love, this model will wipe the floor with all those others.
‘Soft’ is a relative word …
They are indeed softer than the styrene in the kit but I still consider them dangerously stiff for the relatively fragile running gear …
That is true!
Over the last couple years I have called them 4 or 5 different things. No matter what term I use, someone does not like it. It would be a fun topic for a poll. “What do we call these things?”

Look at that guys face, then look at almost every German figure Tamiya has produced over about the last decade, it’s the same face on almost every figure.
I once compiled a gallery of them all, but have since deleted it, once you see it, you will never forget!

If you’re using the same metal shelf I did, make sure you have the plastic caps on top, otherwise the metal shelf will cut right through the plastic at the corners

I have mine already, as seen here, (scratch built plus lots of Tamiya parts) but I want more !!!
(No pre-existing Mack kit parts from any resin kits were used in the building of this model! None! Zero! Nada!)
Also, (IMHO) an open cab Dragon Wagon would net Tamiya a lot more profit with a lot less expense in new tooling costs!
