New Type87 Volkswagen | Armorama™

This is the underside from the Italeri Type 87. According to the Wiki; the major difference was that the backbone tube (the driveshaft channel) was increased in diameter to hold the additional drive shaft for the front wheels. Obvious changes included wider tires, which required larger fenders; wider running boards, along with the engine, drivetrain and portal geared wheel hubs off the Schwimwagen

Interesting, but can we please have some regular saloons of various years? Such a common vehicle in can find a number of uses, right up to the present day.

They actually weren’t common during the war, as most production at VW went into the military vehicles. The standard models were produced in small numbers and generally ended up in the hands of the leading class. The stamp book program resulted in no civilians receiving their car.

If it wasn’t for the British salvaging the VW facility after the war we would not have the “common vehicle in can find a number of uses, right up to the present day.”

That said, there are kits covering the years the VW Beetle was in active production.

The problem of the RFM kit is it is not a wartime vehicle. The orginal vehicles got smaler front window ans even the sideglases are a bit smaler .The bigger ones apear after wartime. It is a quiet good kit but the older Kits from Azimut and CMK are much closer to the real thing .If you are intrested there is a guy on youtube he restore a beetle that come from after wartime to an older model .There you able to see how much work he done to backdate his car. Here you able to see the differenshape but I gues thats only visible by Beetlelovers like me .
