Last one showing the exceptional rear firewall/bulkhead with accurate soundproofing, access panel, and attachment points. The MRC kits just had a solid wall of soundproofing without any of these key details.

Right on Keith. The door detail is atrocious and the fact the floor does not have the no-skid surface lines up with what you were saying about some parts of the kit seeming like they were unfinished.

In your collection of photos do you have any pics of the Firefly A/C such as this one . . .

I would really like to build one of these but detailed reference pictures are not easily sourced.

I do yes. The C-123/C-130 light arrays were used throughout the war.

Here you go. Some of these are from USAAM. Some from my own archive.

Very glad I could help Cajun. Credit too to US Army Aviation Museum and Ray Wilhite. Always happy to share as much as possible. Like I said my health isnt great. Often I have to edit my posts, sometimes multiple times to get my English correct as things slip more.

You’ve got this. Im sure you’ll knock that array out of the park. Im trying to learn Fusion 360 so I can model my own parts like Sagami mounts for the door gunners and things like that light array. Nighthawks, Fireflys, Lightning Bugs are my favorites. I own some of the components used on the Hughes designed INFANT gunship.

Welcome aboard Snake36bravo, thank you for sharing your photographs of this unique, to me at least, of the lighting system. I think it will be a cool kit by itself in a bit larger scale…ie 1/24. It will look amazing in a modeling cabinet.

This past weekend I was going through all my 1:35 UH-1B/C kits since the Seminar 1990 UH-1B and noted another thing about this release from Trumpeter.

The decal sheets on one of the liveries is from the Berlin Brigade UH-1B 60-3607 which was used by USAR US Army Europe in 1964. This was not a gunship and was more akin to a VIP Huey that made its rounds between NATO countries.

The other livery is for an early UH-1B from the 117th Aviation Company in 1963-64.

Neither of these had armored seats. I shouldnt care. Its a model. Yet, as a military historian and veteran I do.

I say this because the armored seats are not correct for either of these versions. The ones in Vietnam had the early seats with red seatbacks and cushion with improvised armor added to the seats. These modifications are what actually lead to the armored pilots seats being developed. There would be no need for them in Germany.

Wrong seats

excellent news, i will go and cruise ebay.co.uk to see if it’s available in the UK

update!

The UH-1B Gunship version is supposed to be out next month. It will have the XM-6 gun mount system with dual M60s each side w/rocket pods, and one w/dual miniguns as well. It looks like it will be pretty nice.

Three markings options as well.

are there two versions of this kit, a slick and a gunship? or are they all in one box, sorry but I’m a little confused.

Yes, they have now released two different versions in two different kits.

ooh this is excellent news, do you have any kit numbers or box art to differentiate between the two kits?
