Awesome idea, but indeed time differences would be challagening… Mmmm, Spare ribs for breakfast! Either for you or for me
I don´t need any excuses for a BBQ, so it’s a good idea. Mostly important for me than the time differences would be the language, but my wife could help
That could be an issue. I was going to say English but which one Queens, American, Southern….etc Sometimes we can’t understand each other within the same state/country.
Shall I talk Dutch, then?
You can, not sure who can respond in kind.
I vote for Spanish. It’s the most spoken language in the world
Si
Y’all need ta parlay voo “Merican!”
And now I’m hungry!
Hey it’s all Ski’s fault, he made me think of it! So really, could this be viable? A rolling BBQ kinda like LiveAid for those who remember, starting (say) in New Zealand/Australia & moving through the time-zones? It would take some organising, but if our esteemed Kitmaker staff like the idea maybe they could host in their respective geographical zones for an hour or so each, we could all just check in/out/in again whenever we wanted.
As for languages, I guess it has to be predominantly English (yeah Ryan I hear ya, just- hah, separated by a common language indeed ) but there could be scheduled time-slots for Spanish & other-language members during the peak European hours. It would be interesting to see how ugly & decrepit we are (OK just speaking for myself) but suitably lubricated with beverages & showing off our recent triumphs it could be a lot of fun. Maybe those interested enough could run a small trial?
To get an idea about time differences, it would be good to know the UTC times where we move (no matter if summer/winter timeframe, just the UTC).
In my case, UTC+1
This is a great idea but you guys should start a new thread for this.
UTC-5 for Eastern Standard Timezone folks like myself.
I agree. Could be moved to ‘General Discussions.’
Operation Yum.
Heck, great idea, Tim. Glad I lit a spark, Brother! I’m in! It could be 5pm PST, 2am, or any time night or day for me. It don’t make no mind to me no how, but you fellers down under need to consider yall are backwards down there, cause yall take yur summers and winters at the wrong time. I wish yall would get with the program and work with the rest of us here, Bahahhaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa,…
This is actually feasible for most of us, but I’m a stick in the mud with tech. I use a flip phone (not a stupid phone), don’t text, no social media (other than model websites) and I’m fat and ugly too. So, I think we’re good, HA!
If there be a new thread post it, plz.
Yeah I’m little better with tech, my fingers keep getting stuck in the phone’s whirly dial. But you got a ‘puter of some description so you can Zoom OK, it’s easy even for me. As for what we look like I can’t decide which mask…Halloween Scream?
So OK guys first I’ll see if our Kitmaker masters are interested, if not maybe we could organise something amongst ourselves as a pilot. Watch this space and/or General Discussions
This has no subtitles but does have a car that looks like Heydrich’s in the studio.
Thanks so much, a worthy commemoration by Czech TV. Random thoughts watching it: Black merc…good, none of that green crap. “SS-3” licence plate ohhh nooo wrong so the myth continues (it was actually “SS-4" guys, read Pannewitz’s testimony)…. the live recreation’s bizarre (bagpipes?) in that Kubis appears to blow up his fellow agent Gabcik more than Heydrich & no idea what that woman’s doing in the mix. Disappointing they couldn’t have wheeled out an authentic tram from their museum, but the actual site’s been heavily altered over the decades & tram lines long gone. Also most appropriate they’re commemorating the reprisals that followed – imagine, over 5,000 men, women & children murdered as a direct consequence. Hitler was talked down from originally demanding decimation i.e. one in ten of the Czechoslovak population liquidated.
Not a bad visualisation of the scene at 13.55 although that background building’s an unnecessary invention. Better angle at 14.15 except the central gardens are slightly too narrow. Good to see they agree with me about the overall railings colour even if they omitted the gold highlights. Their “diamond” sign’s yellow…my research (combined with a monochrome photo of the actual sign) pointed to white with red border. The bike’s leaning the wrong side of the lamp post at 14.36 jeez there’s a f’ing photo of it in situ on the day. It will forever baffle me how people can go to so much trouble to achieve accuracy…and then show something completely contrary to available visual evidence, for no reason I can fathom.
I first saw this animation (starting at 15.06) a couple of years ago…yep limo overtakes the decelerating tram (#2274….OK maybe, & route # 14 tick) …but uh oh the other tram coming up round the bend is also #2274, obviously wrong but route # 3 is correct. I don’t believe Kubis was that far round the bend when he threw the grenade (15.54) for several practical reasons. But the red sign on the railing’s correct (15.58). Overall it’s a fairly realistic recreation despite annoying research lapses, and I think the Merc’s going round the bend way too fast. Anyhow I hope my attempt will be even more accurate, anything’s better than the various laughable movie versions
Considdering the amount of researd you’ve done, it must be that much more accurate! I mean: you questioned every bit of evidence at least twice and consulted so many resources that the result must be the most accurate representation to date… .
A little tough on the translation, but I got the jist of it.
You’re right on target, Tim, keep going as is. Like Erwin said, your research is more in depth, Ruck On!
