Operation Anthropoid

Hi Tim - the catenary looks great! To your question about to manipulate or not (graphics) this seems to be a pretty good case for doing so, as it is essentially a layer over your actual models. Now, had you imported a tram or two, well that’s another story! While I want to see your full results, I appreciate you taking your time with the presentation. You have put a lot of time into this project! Seems to make sense to spend more time that normal to pull a presentation together to tell the story. Nonetheless, I still want to see it!

Cheers
Nick

Thanks mate I really appreciate that, it’s what I’m always aiming for but seldom if ever hit the bullseye. Maybe I should have made this comparison before, but I really didn’t want to look at the original in case it destroyed what’s left of my mojo. Anyhow, emboldened by your & other reactions here it is…

I can deftly explain the shadows discrepancy by claiming my photo was taken later the same day, whereas the original was taken early the following morning. I’m fairly sure Pannewitz’s report did mention that the scene was cordoned off & guarded overnight - there are a few photos which show different shadows (presumed to have been taken later the same day) compared to the main set of police photos taken the following morning.

For any fellow OCD-ers, the original blast-damaged trams were driven away to the depot within an hour or so of the event which happened around 10.30 am. At some point in the afternoon the police decided to recreate the scene as accurately as possible by driving substitute trams into position, which remained there overnight. Photos corroborate this - views of the trams from their port side show intact windows, whereas they were shattered by the blast on the originals.

Thanks Nick, indeed as we’ve discussed image-manipulation should only be cosmetic. The closest I came to altering something I’d made was that pesky tram coupling, but I felt it was forgivable because I had made the coupling coupled in the first place. Whether during photography it was the (authentic) gradient, or the gusts of wind, the trailer rolled back a quarter-inch & I didn’t notice the gap.

You caught the timing just right, Tim. That tram pic is incredible!

Thanks Ski, as you liked the tram(s) here’s another probable reject from the police investigation set, in monochrome it wouldn’t look much anyway. That’s actually a 3D scan/print of me, trying to work out what actually happened and who did what when…

Thanks guys, at long last we’re crawling into the Terminus on Operation Anthropoid’s tram line, please would passengers collect all their empty bottles & other paraphernalia before alighting. Tickets will be checked, and anyone unable to walk in a straight line for 1 metre will be punished by having to read this entire thread from the beginning on Armorama in March 2018…

That’s approx. 2,000 posts including the 829 here on Kitmaker, even I can’t face that.

OMG Tim I thought that photo was 1:1. It took me quite a bit of time to determine otherwise. Amazing!

Hey Tim, I have finally caught up with this magnum opus again.

Your patience and persistence has always humbled me - sometimes even worried me - but I can see that it is finally paying off!

If you can see a way of doing it I would love to see this in a newspaper / dossier format with captions one day…

Keep up the tremendous work.

What can I say, maybe it’s the Stripper’s psychology, I’m down to the g-string now so it’s probably time to look away….wouldn’t want to make you feel inadequate

Yeah that was always my original plan, but as you’re about to see I couldn’t make it fly for reasons that’ll be obvious :slightly_frowning_face:

Thanks guys, check in tomorrow Friday for the last hurrah. :tumbler_glass:

And here the whole time I was thinking you were being so polite. So, what about the camera man, does he get a pass? :joy:  :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

That was not very nice, Tim, you’re putting me off my food, HA!

In all seriousness, this is some pretty dang fine photo work Brotha!

So I was all ready to post everything today, and then I saw the news about the mass shooting at the University in Prague. Sorry guys but it just doesn’t sit right with me to do it today – just seeing the red trams going by in the background of the news reports was enough to make me want to put some distance between my photos and that tragedy. I’ll do it over the weekend instead.
