I have some Airwaves PE for a T-72. All the Airwaves stuff has a blue coating on the un-etched surfaces, does this need to be removed (how?) or can you just paint/glue over it?

I used Airwaves set for my Mercava and remember that blue coating being very tough but managed to remove it with sandpaper while all parts were still on the fret. Maybe save yourself some trouble by testing your paint & glue of choice on the fret or an unused piece for sufficient adhesion?

Try soaking it in lacquer thinner.

You can paint it without any issue. Did it on a T-72 and a Merkava myself.
