Pontoon bridge machine PMM-2M

For a change, here are some photos of the real thing today. They show the pontoons unfolding before the ferry enters the water. It was also possible to unfold the ferry while in the water. The unfolding mechanism will be the next task for the model.

Work on the ferry continued with the construction of the access ramps for the pontoons. These ramps are designed to be movable and are fitted with the corresponding hydraulic cylinders. Since these cylinders are located inside the pontoon, they will not be visible on the finished model. That is why I am showing you the positioning of these cylinders today, before the pontoon body is sealed. The mounting of the cylinders is not yet complete. This shows the left-hand—or lower—pontoon on the base vehicle. I have test-fitted the access ramps to check their range of motion. Here are the photos.

Work on the model continued; I spray-painted the access ramps and mounted them onto the pontoon. Painting them beforehand was necessary because it would be difficult to spray the model once the ramps were installed. I generally use paints from Elita; in my opinion, they are the best paints for scale modeling. I’ve assembled the model for you to give you an idea of its size. Work will soon continue on the upper pontoon and the deployment mechanism. Here are the latest photos of the model.
