Questions about this subject

I’m building a diorama of a Maintenance hanger with an A10 warthog being serviced in 1/72nd scale.

But unfortunately I’m trying to scratch build this item and I don’t know what it is, can anyone please explain to me what it is called and what it’s used for?

It’s the yellow structure.

Thank you.

Looks like a gantry crane to me but I could be wrong.
Yellow to make it visible.
Travels along those hefty girders on each side.
Wheels are “hidden” inside the yellow box structure:

5 ton lifting capacity??

Winch and hook:

Better view of the winch

Yup. 5 ton capacity

Robin wins the prize!

it’s a crane, no doubt. It is a common feature in many factories. The crane itself (the big yellow structure) moves in one direction on pilars along the wall. Then there is a trolley on the yellow structure that can move in the other direction. This way, every position in the hangar can be reached.

bbbut we like to see in progress photos as well …

It might even get you some good advice during the construction.
Give us armchair modelers a chance to contribute to a “team effort”

Sounds good. Just remember these are my 1/72nd scale scratchbuilding assesories for the A-10a diorama. I’ll be sending you some photos soon.
