Radiators

As in the type used in buildings for space heating, which several model manufacturers make. I mention it because old buildings often have hot water heat. What is surprising is that I don’t see the long, low types I see in many old buildings that are typically located in front of interior windows which are not for store displays.

I am reminded of a story I read in a magazine about Salvador Dali shortly before his death, where he made a metal cover made to cover up an unsightly radiator, and he painted a picture of a radiator upon it. He was known to have had a sense of humor.

The article, which I think was in the Smithsonian magazine, covered Dali’s life and talked about his wife as well.

Well as an HVAC guy for about 45 years I gotta admit the topic title snagged me. Have some very fond memories about them and an article someplace romanticizing that cast iron.

Heck I even kinda met The Brat Pack via radiators.
