Yeah. It’s the one that had Bad MF stamped on it.

Hold up… didn’t rye field models try to make one of these years ago with a full interior?

No, that was Riich Model, no relation. They were supposed to do an M109A6 Paladin and the M992A1 FAASV, both with interiors.

They ended up coming out with both, sans interior, in 1/72.

Kinetic and AFV Club were also supposed to do M992s.

Kinetic (with interior).

They have all been “announced/coming” since about 2014. Still waiting…

And every one of them based on measurements and photos taken at Fort Carson, and no doubt by H-H as well. We can only do so much. Kinetic seems to want to focus on aircraft now, although the in person discussion we had a year ago still points to doing some 1/35 military kits. Some of them would be updated versions of other kits that weren’t up to snuff.

Robert,
I have read there is a bit of a political component to the process involved in nomenclature. Supposedly, an incremental improvement to an existing platform attracts less attention than a new designation will and requires less bureaucratic scrutiny, time delays and money.

I do not know the left and right limits to this. With the A7 being a major change from the legacy M109, it seems that it would be in a new class of it’s own.The M106 had fewer changes and was redesigned the M1064 or something similar.

Allegedly, this is why the Abrams is still in the M1A2 stage instead of M1A3.

Respectfully,
Allen

RFM have just released several photos of their new release, kit 5129. Not of the built kit, but CADs of the track and jig, features of the kit, i.e. movable barrel, driver’s hatch, etc. And a sprue shot, which I’m examining now. I’m not going to post the photos. I"m sure someone else would love to jump in and do so.

I still wait for the announcements in their mid-1990`s catalog. HEMTT and Transportpanzer Fuchs.

Friend of mine crewed an M109 in Desert Storm, and he only knows the M992 as a CAT. So the name has been around as at least a nickname for a good while already.

Several deficiencies in lower hull, pretty big one on engine deck.

Are those the only ones they posted? What about the track photos?

As I said above a few days ago, a study of the sprues tells me this kit is not correct either.
