Is the antenna alignment correct for the Fregat? The pictures I’ve seen of the Top Plate (Fregat-MA) radar on the Kuznetsov and other Russian ships show the two antenna arrays tipped relative to each other, not aligned horizontally.
The use of tipped antennas on Russian/Soviet ships goes back to, IIRC, the Head Net C radar, using the difference in bearing between returns from the two antennae for a contact to calculate altitude, giving the unit height-finding capability.
You are indeed right,
I have increased the “misalignment” of the antenna:
What do you think?
Thanks for your help.
Finally, ten years of writing software to assist TAO trainees to memorize the Soviet navy ship characteristics has proved useful outside of just verifying that the software worked properly. The vast majority of the information I had to learn for that is outdated, and only pops up in weird and specialized cases like this.
