Russian Pantsir Air defense system

The base of the turret is assembled. Some putty was necessary to fill small gaps but nothing really hard to fix.
The file scratches have been sanded down since the pictures have been taken.

The both twin-barreled guns have been assembled too. The four muzzles needed to drilled out. Pictures will be posted later.

Thank you Richard.
Here are some pictures of the turret with the automatic guns.

I had to deal with some nasty ejection pin marks here and there which is quite unusual with Zvezda.

That turret looks a lot like the Tunguska turret. I built the Panda Tunguska and am still recovering. I also have this kit in my stash. The guns look so much better than the Panda kit.

You’re right Greg. I thought the same.

I have assembled the both radar antennas and the first set out of four of missiles assemblies.

Coming along really nicely Olivier… It is a pretty substantial kit when it’s altogether…

And welcome Greg @Greg_Beckman … Hope you enjoy the forums :+1:

The turret is ready for its integration onto the combat module.

First coat of paint has been applied today. I used half a bottle of Tamiya XF-78 and half of this just for the turret. Nothing is glued yet. Still need to paint the various details and add the clear parts.

Welcome Greg! This is a great site with tons of knowledgeable people who turn out outstanding models.
I have the Panda kit in my stash and might try to get rid of it , haven’t heard anything good about it. I’ll see.

Very good coverage on the paint, Olivier!

What black did you use for the frame?

I’ve got this one in my stash too. I’m thinking it might be my next one after a “palate cleanser” of an Me-262.

Good start with the paint Olivier…
There’s a lot to cover !! …
Will you be going for your nice low key weathering for the final finish ?

Thank you Johnny. To answer your question : yes. I’ll try to add a light weathering based on dust and sand.

Glad you like it Christopher.

I recently finished painting the various details like the clear parts and definitely glued them in place.

I also enlightened the base color with some drops of white in the XF-78. I fear this does not show well on the pictures.

Nothing is glued yet. I’ll apply the washes to the different modules beforehand.

Great work, Olivier! :exploding_head:

What shade of tan/brown is that on the front radar dish?

Thank you all for the comments.
The radar dish is painted with XF-59. This shade is quite close to the reference pictures for a tan Pantsir. The plain green one has a different color for the dish.

Nicely done Olivier. You make out the slightly lighter areas as well … :+1:

The beast is close to cross the finish line.
I accentuated the highlights, applied a wash and then a pinwash. When the modules were dry I finally glued them onto the chassis which was beforehand covered with dust (XF-57 Buff). The very last details were added to the cabin.
I’ll probably work a bit more on the tires tread.
