Shah's Thunderbolts

Imperial Iranian Air Force received 50 F(P) - 47s in 1948. Scarce info list them as 47Ds. Photos show them with the spine fillet. So… D-40-RAs or were they actually 47Ms? Also, did they just fly around, looking pretty for the Shah? Or did they see any active service?

According to one of the posts, these P-47’s were all “Block 30” D’s…You can see in the picture below the #44-20872 which is mentioned in the same post, over Italy in 1944 :

H.P.

Startingsome work on “backdating” my 47M to the Persian D-30. Near as I can figure they had the M/N type riveted / smooth cockpit floor.Didthey have the M/N cockpit side panels also? Or the older D lay out? Also,B&W photos are inconclusive (and I am distrustful of CG skins/ models) Were anti glare sections OD or black? Also, still trying to figure out a match for the green for the cowl … looks the same as the green for the national markings. (Vallejo,Mig, AK , hataka)
