SHAPEWAYS - Anyone have experience?

I’ve used 3D printed parts from two makers, Ettore Galasso (Priamide Models) and Peter Samofalov (Samofalov Prototyping). They’ve made great components for my modern builds. Mainly my M1165 GMV project and my M1126A1 Stryker ICV.

AFV Club M1126A1 Stryker ICV with Double V Hull (DVH) upgrade.

Academy M1151 HMMWV with M1165 GMV conversion parts.

Hey so work supporting the university is really taking a toll! i finally got around to using these! they are nice and not nearly as brittle, but the method to apply several in a row is a method I still need to develop.

I think that you had say 2-4 on a bar, as it were, it would be easier to use.

At any rate, you did do a good job, and thanks!

Bruce,
What are you referring to?

Kind regards,
James

Have had good success ordering from Shapeways but as others have said their print technology / print resolution seems it be lagging behind the times.

Here is a small item printed by SW in 1/35th: As you can see the particle grain and stair stepping is clearly visible here.

But to be totally fair these factors totally disappeared after painting of the part.

SINCGARS radio printed by SW:

However these even smaller items in 1/35th as seen below were designed and printed by MikeyBugs so as you can see print resolution has greatly improved in just a short time over what SW is currently offering.

Love the Explorer. I had no idea a mini one was available! What gauge strings? :joy: (Guitar player joke)
Mine (full size) is wine red. For the record, I’m not a metal player, I’ve just always thought the Explorer was such a cool looking guitar. I may have to place an order for one. Cheers.

I’ve had good experience with Shapeways. It gets a bit pricey, but their offerings are good.

On the real M51.

The Stowage basket and travel lock on my M51 build came from Shapeways.

Got the parts here…
