I’m planning a build of an M4A2E8 (III-AY) Sherman as used by The Ontario Regiment into the 1970’s.
Previously on the forum there was a user who kit based Asukas M4A2 and M4A3E8 kits to create a correct M4A2E8. However in doing my research I came across TMD’s Fury conversion which includes:
-
TMD M4A2E8 lower hull
-
TMD M4A2E8 upper hull
-
TMD M4A2E8 late war fenders
-
TMD M4A2 split exhaust deflectors
-
TMD M4E8 welded suspension arms (I know the Canadians used cast arms)
The set is specifically designed for the Asuka Korean War E8 or the JGDSF E8. I assume this has to do with having the correct late hull parts which are needed for a late Hull A2E8
My question for those familiar with the minutia of Shermans is this:
Is there anything missing, incorrect, or inaccurate in the TMD conversion set that I would need to add, replace, or modify in order to build a correct Ontario Regiment M4A2E8(III-AY) Sherman?
For example, are there suspension details, engine deck features, turret/hatches, vents, tooling/stowage items, exhaust or other parts that TMD doesn’t include or that don’t match the Canadian post-war configuration?
Or is this as straight forward as bashing the Asuka kit onto the TMD conversion and shaking and baking. Cheers and thanks for reading
