Since you haven’t started it yet - I don’t feel like the “Looks pretty good, now look at mine” guy.
I wish I had chosen my colors better back then. This was an away from home build. At Fort Sill, actually. It was, and still is a good kit though.
Looks good from here. Especially the pattern. Are you saying the colors are not exactly accurate? I wouldn’t have known.
What color did you use for the interior of your model? The movie version is overall green inside and out.
I’ve had the graphic novel series since finding them at a San Francisco garage sale in the early 90s. I’ve had the idea of building this one from the comic books and now finally getting to this project thanks to this build campaign idea.
Look at all those Tamiya kits at the ‘tank factory’. Grey’s buggy looks like the Tamiya RC Grasshopper or the Buggy Champ.
Got some paint down on the seascapes today. I used a custom mix of thick acrylic paint. The stuff in the big tubes for arts and crafts. Applied roughly with a coarse brush held horizontally to make more waves and crests. Will probably need a slightly lightened coat over that in random spots.
And some paint on the Glen. I went with the early war aluminium. The Japanese Navy seems to have had a lot of success in the early stages with these subs and little aeroplane. One managed to make a low level recce of Sydney harbour in early ‘42 (it was mistaken for a US Kingfisher and no one fired back at it!).
I am finished with my P-47 Razorback. Took longer than I guessed it would but that’s ok. I learned some things in the process and I can only hope not to forget these things for the next build…funny how that always seems to happen.
That’s one of the best metallic finishes I’ve seen in quite some time. Kudos.
Absolutely agree about the metallic finish and overall the Razorback looks amazing.
That looks really great!
Thanks all.
Excellent work and congratulations on finishing. Paint work is beautiful.
I have unfortunately forgot about posting update photos for such a long time due to my studies. However, I have completed both the m41 and the T62. Heres the photos:
Nice work on those Tamiya classics! ![]()
