I wanted to give you an update on the progress. Unfortunately, the pace of the last two months hasn’t been in my favor: between end-of-school-year obligations (school events, registration) and club meetings, my schedule for May and June has been particularly busy.
On top of that, there’s a issue beyond my control: it’s currently 30°C in my apartment. I really want to finish this project, but the indoor temperature isn’t dropping fast enough, which is completely holding me back from the painting stage.
I hope to be able to lower the temperature so I can work in optimal conditions and finish the model.

I have to admit that the severity of the heat wave caught us off guard. We knew it was going to be hot, but not this hot.
Even with the limited time we had in May and June, I still made some progress.

First coat: Tamiya XF-62

For once I’m on track, but it will help. Have a few jobs in the house to do this weekend coming up so I’m not sure how much bench time I’ll get.

Finally got something done again.
After having moved location, my flow got a serious hit. But I’m hoping to be able to push on. I have to paint by hand, since I am waiting for a new airbrush booth for my apartment.
The first desert pink turned out to be a lacquer, which could not be thinned down by either water, white spirit or Tamiya thinner. It could be removed by the latter without issue though. So I repainted with Lifecolor, which lends itself well to handpainting.
Oh and an extension would be most welcome, yes!

I finally got some base color down on my Ghia. We had a downpour yesterday that knocked power out all afternoon but that just gave me more curing time. I need to start the sanding, do any touchups, and then apply the gloss coat. Most of the internals are built but I need to paint the rear seats and door panels. I tried to replicate the Java Green L518 color for 1967.
Yes, that is the Tamiya 1967 Beetle there in Bahama Blue for the Bugs! campaign.

Just a quick update: we can’t seem to get the temperature in our apartment any lower—it’s staying around 27°C.
This weekend we’re heading somewhere cooler, and I’ve decided to take the M113 FSV with me to lay the main coat.
If the extension is still on the agenda, a couple of weeks would be welcome.

I grovelingly concur. I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to complete my entry, life just keeps throwing me curve balls. For instance, this Saturday my kid and her family were moving out of state and we’re helping them move, and I had to cancel a very rare and very fun hobby function to help her move. Just found out a few minutes ago that their new place will not be cleaned and ready for occupancy until next week, so she’ll need me to help them move the following Saturday, pm as originally planned. Then, the car the granddaughter will be driving broke down and I had to get my junker patched up for her. Poor poor pitiful me boo hoo hoo hoo hoo I can’t play with my models and trains. Woe is me! Pity party pity party.
Will anybody send me some cheese to go along with my whine?
All that said, I could really use an extension. I’ve got a few weeks left before everything’s booked up for about another two weeks. Maybe I can get my Tamiya ki-44 Tojo built after all.
