Coming along nicely… adding any animals?
There’s already a little dog in the shirt of one of the soldiers.
Thanks guys
Hi everyone, I don’t know if I’m in the right section but I need your help: do you know that the Marder III ausf H Sdkfz 138 fought in North Africa? I thank everyone in advance.
According to an article from tanks-encyclopedia.com:
In March 1943, after some resting time, the 39th Anti-Tank Battalion was reformed and reinforced. The 1st Kompanie received 9 Marder IIIs and the 2nd Kompanie received Marder III Ausf.H (version armed with the 7.5 cm PaK 40). They fought in Tunisia until the Axis surrender in May.
This website rips off the above article but includes a picture of a Panzer III Ausf. H in Tunisia, North Africa.
39th Anti-Tank Battalion is a core unit of 21st Panzer Division. According to the linked article, the division was mauled near the end of 1942 but reconstituted. 21st Panzer reappears at the Kasserine Pass in February 1943, but all of this is before the arrival of the Marder III Ausf. H vehicles.
The British now launch Operation Pugilist. According to this article, 21st Panzer is at the Tebaga Gap on 21 March and fights the New Zealand Corps. On March 23, the allied formation is reinforced by the British 1st Armoured Division.
Assuming the Marder III Ausf. H vehicles were put into the line quickly, it seems likely they were fighting at Tebaga on March 26 at the commencement of Operation Supercharge II. The British 2nd Armoured Brigade and 8th Armoured Brigade participate in that battle and come against elements of the 21st Panzer Division. That may be when the Marder III Ausf. H from one of the previous links was captured.
Anyway, that is what I came up with doing some quick searches. There are a lot of units flying around in these battles so determining exactly what fought where against who is kinda hard to puzzle out.
Thank you very much for this information. Meanwhile I found something else that confirms the presence of this vehicle in North Africa.
HI
That turned out really nice! The guys playing cards are well posed, similar to what appears in many period photographs. The base, while simple, does exactly what it needs to do. I particularly like the effects painting below the fenders of the Panzer 35(t). Well done!
Very nice job Marino! The tank and figures look great as does your ground work.
Thank you very kindly.
HI
The diorama look really nice.
