Will do. When I saw your model I immediately went to eBay looking to acquire the Eastern Express kit but…no joy. That was probably a very good thing because it forces me to purchase the Trumpeter version which will save a ton of hassle…
I bought mine a good 4-5 years ago. eBay sure seems to have changed on both kit availability and pricing over the past six months. I look forward to seeing your build.
I have not purchased anything off eBay in something like a decade. There used to be a lot more garage sale type stuff. Now almost every search returns a bunch of over priced store auctions.
While I would really love to build that artillery piece right now…too many models already need finishing so it must wait. I could see building one for the artillery campaign that starts later this year.
If I may, what was your basic methodology for painted that model? It looks like you sprayed the base coat over black primer, taking care not to saturate edges, creating a gradient. You then very selectively added one or more earth tones, either with an air brush or pigment. It reminds me of how Tony Greenland used to paint models. The result is clean but with enough variation to look interesting.
That’s pretty much how I did it. Tamiya lacquers black base coat followed by lighter coats of Olive Drab 2 heavier on upper surfaces and center areas, then lighter in the shadow areas. Then earth tones around all the running gear where mud and dust would naturally appear on the carriage.
12 Hour Build Challenge results… 8 started, three completed, this one took first place.

Congratulations on taking first place! The model really is well done.
Thank you for the information with regards the painting. I am experimenting with different painting algorithms and will be exploring the one you used here on a near future project.
Outstanding, congratulations on first place.
