Outstanding work so far!

Great progress there Richard. I see you have done more fine camo work on the crouching Para. Plus those Egyptian tanker overalls look spot-on- the muted, dark khaki looks realistic.

Looking great. I like the turned wheels on the jeep and teh Para sighting the RR.

Fantastic work :+1:, and did the middle Egyptian get really, really scared at some point :face_with_spiral_eyes:or is that just a shadow patch

Again, very nicely done.

I’m not exactly sure what that figure is doing, but he is not sighting the recoilless. I have done
so. For firing you use the optical sight, which works in tandem with the bore sighted spotting rifle.
For bore sighting, you would look down the barrel with the breech opened. and align cross hairs (placed on the muzzle end) on a target downrange. Several problems with that - it’s much easier with two soldiers - the second soldier obtains the same sight picture on the optical sight.
And this is not done in the middle of the street. Lastly, there are no supplemental iron sights at the rear of the gun. So whatever he’s doing, he’s not sighting it.
I’m sure Richard can tell us what’s really going on.

Thanks Karl, I’m not crazy about the figures especially the Egyptian climbing down from the tank but that’s what happens when you only paint figures once or twice a year. On top of that I’m terrible with light colored uniforms, I can’t get the shade/ shadows right but I’ll just have to keep working. The Paras came much better so far.

Thanks Gino, the Para behind the jeep will be pulling a round from the back, I just haven’t glued it to his hands yet. I’ll take better pics from more angles later.

Bert it’s very possible he sh$t himself lol, but actually that’s poor painting on my part. I’ve since corrected it after I took the pic.

Yeah you are correct about that Robert- he’s not sighting the RR but getting another round ready to load; his Sgt in the drivers seat is ordering him to do so, that’s why I turned his head a little to the side to make it look as though he’s communicating with the trooper behind him. It’s not immediately apparent though. An overhead pic will show the trooper with a round in his hand more clearly.

Thanks for your kind replies guys!

I knew you wouldn’t have made an error like that. Odd place for someone to “sight” a weapon - where nasty things are known to happen.

Looking at the angle of the pic it does look as though he’s looking through the breach of the thing.

Yes apparently they fire in “both directions” like a lot of anti tank weapons….

I know how you sight a RR as well. It looked like he was looking down the tube as a field expedient way. Either way the figures look good. Good job on them.

Well I think your light colors look good- you’ve got a good balance between the highlights and shadows. No areas would appear to me to be too light or dark and you have gone to the effort outline the pockets and fabric seams.

I think you nailed it. Some people go way overboard on the contrast with light colored uniforms, even going so far as to (gasp) give them a black wash. Yours look just right.

I do tend to exaggerate the highlights and shadows as a matter of style but also because I go to about 2-4 shows a year and some of the venues have poor lighting in the display area which causes me to try to compensate.

The Miniart crew is very nice. The faces and helmets have good detail as well as the uniform folds. The only thing that could been done better was the pockets I feel.

I love MiniArt figures,. I bought another set yesterday just for two arms, but fortuitously found another figure will suit one of my other projects very well. Even though they all appear to be the same height and build, that actually works when swapping out parts.
