I am working on a retirement gift for a friend that is retiring from active duty that served with TF 1-64 Armor in Iraq. What were the tactical markings for the sidecskirts and turret? Any help would would be greatly appreciated.
This may help. The below decals are for 1-64 AR in OIF 1, invasion, March '03.
US Army M1A1HA Abrams in Operation Iraqi Freedom (2), Echelon Fine Details T35014
We have the First Into Baghdad Abrams at the Armor & Cavalry Collection on Fort Benning. If you need additional info, LMK. I’ll be there next weekend. It wasn’t on display yet.
Wow!!! Thanks very much. Now I have a direction for the kit. My friend was with Bravo and in track 34. He was the gunner with the mine plow.
My now concern is how he said there was no additional bustle rack in the rear of the track?
Guess I have to reach out again.
I do not want to give away much to what I am doing. I took the Tamiya M1A1 with mine plow for the start.
Thanks again very much.
My friend is stationed on Ft Benning. He and I worked in the civilian contractor world before he went back on active duty. He is a MSG now with lots of certifications under his belt. Master Gunner for M1’s, Stryker MGS, etc.
Thanks for the help and if you come across any additonal information, that would be great.
Thanks again to both of you.
Respectfully,

The additional or extended bustle rack was sometimes not matched to the forward units. He’s not confused, but event 1st into Baghdad might have been modified before it was placed on a plinth. I’ll see if the paint or other factors reflect post-war upgrades.
Most of the 2 BDE draw tanks had the additional bustle rack, but not all. They were locally made in Kuwait and added to draw grid vehicles.
If he was B Co, his side numbers would be 52.
Here is the OIF 1 3ID marking SOP as well.
I hope you updated it. That is an early ODS-era tank out of the box. It needs quite a bit to bring it up to a 2003 OIF 1 tank. At the least, it needs an updated GPS box with flat back and T158 tracks. Be sure to not use the APU on the right rear of the hull as well.
