Takom's 1/4 ton truck

That is the only downfall of the kit.
If I remember correctly, I had to putty this area.
If you’re after a real detailed engine this is your kit. I had planned to show it off but I foolishly put the body on the frame making it extremely hard to paint the engine.
My fav jeep kit so far is Meng’s but I haven’t built a Bronco yet.

I don’t think anyone every has said a Bronco kit is fun or easy to build. I would guess Meng is still the top pick afterwards. I like the Meng kit too.

Thats funny because I just had a struggle with a Bronco kit.
The Bronco kit is the only 35th kit with the Ford logo on the rear, so its a must have in my book.

I have the Meng kit and it looks really nice. I will get to it eventually.

I agree on the Bronco GPW. It is the only 1/35 Ford GPW jeep model that I know of. I have a Willys MB early with slat grill and Willys script on the rear. I will add the Bronco Ford script GPW as well.

I am a bit of a Jeep nut, as you can see.

So technically FC Model has Ford and Willys script logos you can add to any kit.

Correct, but just adding the “Ford” script does not make it a Ford GPW.

Ford GPWs can be IDed by a rectangular upside-down U-channel front cross member, while Willys MBs have a tubular round front cross member. The impressions for the rear toolbox opening button on a GPW were square and round on an MB. Also, the stamped, 9-bar grill was a Ford feature that was found to be easier and quicker to make than the welded bar Willys grill, so it was adopted for all MBs as well. Many of the parts on GPWs will also have a small “F” script letter cast on or stamped into them (not really visible in 1/35 though).

As to the “script” we speak of, both Willys and Ford had their logos stamped onto the rear of their products up until summer ‘42. At that time, the War Department outlawed manufacturers’ marks on any piece of military equipment. Both had to remove them after that.

That is correct and I am unsure at this time if Bronco has those features or not so I only limited my answer to just the script. Some for their purposes may use say that script and Italeri kit to get a version close enough for their enjoyment.

I think that the Bronco kit gives these options but doesn’t distinguish between the two manufacturers?

The Bronco kit is a true Ford GPW with all the features I listed above. It is a really nice-looking kit from other builds I have seen and what is in the box.

Also of note, pre-'late 43 jeeps (MB and GPW) did not have the rear fuel can nor the blackout light on the left front fender from the factory. These were field mods added by soldiers that were later adopted on production jeeps. The Bronco GPW instructions actually note this and list them as options.
