Hi everyone — I’ve been building 1/35 Tamiya armor and posting the full process on YouTube.
Latest build is the King Tiger (Tiger II) Henschel Turret with some detail upgrades — zimmerit coating sheet, 3D printed parts, Tamiya photoetch, stainless steel wire, and individual track links. Paint is next.

3-colour camouflage, decals, oil wash, chipping, pigment weathering on the roadwheels, and final shading.
Your work is first rate. The video work is excellent. In the past, I have taken some heavy aluminum foil and pressed it onto the front finder. When correctly formed, I have removed the top of the model’s finder, leaving the side portion. I then glue on the foil finder. Now the finder behaves the same as the original metal finder when you damage it and it is of the approximate thickness.
Thank you! That’s a great tip — I’ll definitely try the aluminium foil fender technique on a future build.
I have used that technique on a few of my works, it adds a good sense of used realism, and costs pennies compaired to aftermarket brass.

I forgot tin pie plates work good as well for a bit stiffer of a material. Just press and form it over an original part, then add realistic damage to it. Like fenders as an example.
That’s a great tip, never thought of using tin pie plates! Definitely going to try that on a future build. Thanks for sharing

What brand of zimermitt did you use?
Thanks for watching! I used the Tamiya Zimmerit Coating Sheet Set — it’s adhesive sheet that you cut and apply directly to the surface. Really easy to work with compared to putty-based methods!
