Tamiya releasing two new dinosaur models

Saw these on ScaleMates last night.

Fukuisaurus - Estimated length of 5 inches in 1/35 scale based on a 4.5 meter long adult specimen.

Fukuiraptor - Estimated length of 4.7 inches in 1/35 scale based on a 4.2 meter long adult specimen.

Tamiya may be getting back into the dinosaur game. For those of us who enjoy modeling dinosaurs and other creatures, this is potentially great news.

I saw this on YouTube earlier this week. I actually just got all the previous kits for Christmas and my birthday, so this is pretty cool news and hopefully there will be more new dinos sooner than later.

Indeed it is! have all of them under construction, except the Brachiosaurus…. that one’s a bit too much.

I may have to get one. I had the motorized dinos back in the day. Got yelled at when dad, after night out, tapped one with his foot in the dark and it started moving. Scared him good and got a talking to from mom.

Please let something have gone wrong with the translation of the dinosaur from Japanese.

“Fukui” is written 福井 — 福 (fuku) = “good fortune, happiness” and 井 (i) = “well” (water well). The place name originally referred to a historic “Fuku-no-i” (Good‑Fortune Well) at Fukui Castle, so the name is commonly interpreted as “fortunate well” or “well of good fortune.”

So, Fukuisaurus is fortune well lizard and Fukuiraptor is fortune well thief.

Or, if you are someone like Onslo from Keeping Up Appearances, you get something rather completely different. Please use the side door…

I saw the box once in a shop window; no way could it be sneaked into the stash…

Just so you know, you are talking kit size with someone who is currently building a 1/35 Type XXIII coastal sub which will be displayed near the railgun “Leopold” and a BR 52 locomotive, both also in 1/35.

I will make it work.

If your wife is on Amazon all the time create a list and put it in there and have her buy it for you like I did.

She can’t very well complain then, can she?

Here’s a handy image for those of us contemplating using it as a mount for a fantasy rider (Historex Hussar?)…

It is really pronounced “Foo - Koo” but I thought the same thing. We are going to have scores of 12 year olds proudly showing off their “F__k - you - a - saurus” and proclaiming it’s name at the top of their lungs.

No, I just have a downstairs the rest of the family barely uses so I just stick shelves everywhere. That and my kids are college age so soon their rooms will be repurposed.
