Tamiya Vietnam M551 Sheridan (new kit) help needed

I currently have the Tamiya M551 Sheridan and would like to add the rear bustle rack seen on some M551’s . Has anyone done this, are there any plans available? I am ok at scratchbuilding, not great. So any help is greatly appreciated. Pics are even better as are measurements. I know the Rye Field kit has it but I cannot afford it and already have the Tamiya kit.

Best,

Walter

There were drawing on how to do it a long time ago in an issue of Finescale Modeler. I used it on one then, probably late ‘90s. Of course I can’t find it now.

There is also a 3D printed one from FC-Model-Trend.

I think I have heard about the FC printed one. I have not heard a lot of good things about their products..

So if anyone remembers the Finescale article, I would love to read it.

Later in the post @Petition2God gives you some measurements. I would recommend his parts as I have many of them but he is not printing currently. Not sure if he put the rack on cults3d.

I have the FC one in my stash, looks fine to me. Although I have heard of some folks who had uncured/not fully UV-cured prints from FC, I have several FC items that appear perfectly nice. I haven’t tested it on the Sheridan model though so I can’t speak to fit. I look forward to seeing your build!

I’ve got a few photos I took myself. It may take some time to dig them up.

Hi Walter,

Here’s what my 3D printed version looks like. I can still 3D print you one for purchase if you desire.

That 3D printed one I think that’s the way I’ll go.

Hello,

I really wish I had the extra money. Maybe having an upcoming medical procedure so money will be pretty tight for quite a while. But thank you so much for offering and for the help.

Thank you again,

Walter
