Tiger Battalion

I make notes on the instruction sheet and I write the numbers in pencil on some parts if they are left/right-handed or similar to other parts. Sometimes I’ll leave the bit of sprue with the number still attached.

You definitely have to stay organized to do it this way.

Hello there fellow Modellers,
I’d like to joon campaign with this big box:

Hope I can make it to finish line.
Cheers,
Radek

I’m jumping in here too. It has been done before by Colin, but…

This is the very first release of the kit, with all the bells and whistles.

A few nights work later (I dog sat at the son’s last two nights):

Quite a sizeable gap on the hull roof to sides. Some warping also evident. @ColinEdm was your kit like this?

Will be keeping all of David Bryden’s excellent information about the kit in mind as I go along:

Had a little bit of a gap that I had to clamp, yes.

Thanks, at least it was not just my kit.

Worked on my Takom Tiger I Mid. Put down the secondary color and once that has cured a bit a filter to blend the two and then I can work on the tracks, OEM, and whatnot that needs individual attention. Going to try and get it all done over the weekend and start the base. Then I’ll start assembling the other two Tigers I have waiting.

Excellent rendition of that camo pattern.

What can I say, this build has been the trickiest so far. I had to repaint the whole kit 3 times after not being happy with the outcome. Watched a few extremely helpful videos, experimented with chipping fluid for the first time and used the “new” Tamiya German tri colour camo (XF-88/89/90). Pre-dusting tracks, wheels, exhausts are done at least.

A long way to go…

I got some time in on my Tiger too:

Etch tool clamps are Aber. Dragon’s were terrible.

And got some paint down as we finally had some decent weather here:

I forgot to sand down the two bits of styrene I plugged the holes behind the fenders with… so a little touching up will be in order.

now for the craziness… Dragon tracks are indy links, but with solid guidehorns. As these Initial Tigers were some of the few that actually had handed tracks it is not a matter of just swapping them out. So, I am drilling out the links… last link on the right is ’ au naturel":

I got the broder verison, I intend to do 123 in winter scheme. From dragon, I’ll have a late and a africa campaign tiger, I also have the porsche variant.

Wheels and tracks are finally in place, and from now on I’ll definitely be going for workable tracks. What a faff!

Detail painting up next, and I’ll also be using some of the accessories that came with the kit as they are too good to waste.

Also grabbed a Czech Master Kits MG34 for the commanders cupola in place of the kit provided one.

Great details on your tigers . A bit more progress here .
Moved towing cables to an earlier configeration ,cables yet to be added ,longer cleaning rods. Removed plates where smoke launchers were from hull top, brass engine screens.

Track guards seperated thinned where bent. Work in progress on trying to make damged air filter .

Brackets made for missing tool box and spare track links, lifting lugs for exhaust covers and holes plugged for missing exhaust heat shields.
