@ Btwosan: Looking good!
“grease coating” … That never even occurred to me. Shows how little I know about anything.

I didn’t know about the grease until doing this model either! I found a reference to the torpedos being slathered in grease to prevent corrosion.
@ Btwosan
Very nicely done — love those colors! Congratulations on your beautifully painted bird and fish! …![]()

@Btwosan glorious work! Very nice! ![]()
That is beautiful! All that hard work has paid off. Congratulations.
Been awhile since life has given me the opportunity to hop in here. Lots of excellent work, everyone!
I have been working (slowly) on the big Trumpeter TBD. Definitely the work of the Trumpy A team, a very nice kit:
I decided to paint the rudder stripes rather than try a decal.
Using a combination of Gold Medal Model and kit decals to do a VT-2 TBD that research on the web tells me actually put a torpedo into Shoho at Coral Sea. T-4. And, as a bonus, I found a picture of it on the bottom of the sea in a book!
Things were going well after a good gloss coat. And then, after the Micoscale flat, disaster:
But never give in! I have a new set of markings on the way. I will probably have to strip the tops of the wings down to plastic, repaint, re-gloss, and apply the decals. This time I’ll try another gloss coat on top before I use Tamiya flat to finish. But if anyone has better ideas, feel free to chime in!

Great job! Beautiful job on the natural metal and all the colorful markings.
Congrats on finishing!
I’ll be away the next few weeks, but I was able to lay down some pre shading and base colours for Airfix’s Swordfish
next update will likely be November… Phew, cutting it fine with the deadline… ![]()
got the jill on it’s wheels just need to do the canopy. i should have had this build done over a month ago but i lost some mojo. i am going to end up using the kit canopy, just deciding if i should risk trying to cut the pilot section open.

That’s looking really nice.
I managed a little bit on the Lynx this afternoon. Painted in the instrument panels, got some more internal parts together and ready for a bit of paint. Also masked out and painted the rubber matting on the cabin floor. Just waiting for that to dry before getting a shot.
Nice to see another Lynx started![]()
Repairs (hopefully) underway on the big TBD.
Ruined roundels removed and wings repainted and gloss coated:
Replacement decals applied:
After due time to set, I will gloss coat again before trying to dull coat.

More progress on the Ju 88A-4, albeit a little bass-akwards…
Last week, I couldn’t get my airbrush to cooperate and when it did, I couldn’t shoot a strait line to save my life. So, I decided to forgo panel-line pre-shading — hopefully to be dealt with at a later stage.
Now, to get this show back on the road with light mottling and back blending. … And yes, the mottling part came all too naturally due to my shaky hand. ![]()

Base Color
Vallejo Light Blue (Hellblau) (RLM65) (71.255)
Mottling
Vallejo White Grey (RAL9002) (71.119)
Blending
Vallejo Light Blue (Hellblau) (RLM65) (71.255)
Next, it’s off to masking the lower areas in preparation for the upper splinter camo.

Looking pretty good.
Only a modest amount of work yesterday. Got the interior mostly done, just the seat belts to make up. Quite happy with how the floor panels turned out. After masking I painted them in with AK’s Rubber Black pen. And as I had the transparent blue out for painting some parts on my Enterprise, I got the anti-glare panels on the canopy painted.
Okay!.. These guys are definitely laughing at my mask job! ![]()
With a few hours of unspooling Tamiya Masking Tape, I got this much done on the underbelly camo demarkations.
A little more masking left on the underbelly and I can move top-side to begin work on the splinter camo. …![]()

Crikey, I thought I used a lot of tape when I masked undersides! Nothings getting through that!
Made a little more progress, cockpit is pretty much done. I’m going to leave off the instrument panel until I have it fitted into the fuselage.
I’m leaving out the middle seats from the cabin. These were removable and probably only fitted when needed to save weight. They were fitted in the holes marked with a red outline. Another little detail I spotted in photos in the Haynes book.
Hopefully tomorrow I’ll get around to painting and fixing the rotor gear box to the roof ready for installing it all inside.
FINALLY got my judy done. first time painting insignias. scratch made belts, i cut open the canopy to show the switches and throttle i added and replaced the kits torpedo fins with thinner scratch made sheet stock. ak real colors. i also had to make my own formation lights out of clear sprue since i mistakenly threw them away and i made the canopy frames out of some fast frames left over i had from another build. i just painted the scraps and cut out the frames.
Joe
That’s a nice looking Tenzan! I love the extra attention to detail. Weathering is also quite nice and believable.
Very nice. A build to be proud of.
