All subassemblies done. Ready for painting now
I have altered the M1025 a bit:
Looks like I managed to scrape together all needed parts for the M998 and the M1025 got its NATO-3-tone. The airbrush did not play along nicely. Started spitting at me after having done an Abrams and the green on the M1025. There was quite a bit of water in the moisturecollector.
We keep on rolling!
Today I made some nasty discoveries, while building the M998 and Suzuki. I managed to have lost the left half of the frame and the airfilter or the latter! It is also a horrible little kit on its own; nothing fits, it does not line out at all and the plastic is next to impervious to contacta glue.
But I put it together as good as possible anyway, since I needed it in order to bild the motorcarrier. This one is simple and straight forward. It is attached to the M998 by hanging a rod through the towingeye and securing it with 2 pins through the towingeye connection points. I added 2 left over reflectors, just for fun. The righthand side hinged down, so that has hinges and a securing arm & pin. The sparewheel is there, so I can add a camouflagenet around it, which will then hide the missing lefthand side of the bike.
Since there is nothing under the hood and one could see right through it, I added a radiator….. from a 1/24 Mercedes, cut to fit.
And all together now…
These are coming along great. I really like the covered M101 trailer. I plan on doing a similar trio of HMMWVs soon as a Q-36 radar section.
Thanks!
That cover is actually 2 cover put together. There are the ones that come with that Italeri M1097, cut to fit and puttied.
Yup, I plan to do the same.
Oh, by the way, those Italeri Humvee wheels fit the M101 without issue.
The M1097 is getting some colour! Don’t ask what colour, since it is a mix of remnants from previous projects, mixed until a sandy tone appeared. I also tried something new; masking tape for tiedown straps; easy to get tight and sticks in place. I did some commercially available ones in blue, just to add some colour.
The loadout is not done yet, I’ll add some more civilian boxes with bottled water
The trailer is pretty basic, I just added rubber tiedowns made with stretched sprue. I see now that I forgot the black and brown on the body!
These are looking really good. I especially like the M101 trailer.
One issue though, the M1097 cargo HMMWV should not have a gate across the back. It is usually open with maybe a troop strap across it.
Nice humvee, I like the full loaded cargo bed and the Gypsy rack on the roof.
The tire brand OOOO/OOOO is not really right. I know they are parts provided in the kit.
Yes, unfortunately the Italeri tires are pretty bad and don’t represent the tread pattern of any tires ever used on any HMMWV.
@HeavyArty @Terminator Then the tailgate will come out again. I thought it looked kind of nice. As for the tires; I know the pattern is not what it’s supposed to be, but these come with the kit and are at least a lot better then the vinyl (?) Academy ones. I used my last set of Tamiya wheels on the Academy kit.
The several AM-sets are absolutely superior, but dishing out anywhere between €30 and €40 just for the wheels would defy the purpose of this build, being getting them of the shelf and done.
Taliban humvee with hood removed and ZSU-23-4 AA gunI will participate with a damaged M1152 Humvee. For the build, I will use Academy M1151, DEF Model wheels, conversion parts for M1152, a cannon from Trumpeter, and a resin engine from Black Dog. I will probably start in 2-3 weeks, but I declare my participation in the contest.
I love it! Totally “Mad (to the) Max”. Different tyres on the front wheels, bullet impact marks on the driver’s windshield, one headlight at an odd angle…
Cheers,
M
The first Humvee is nearing completion!
I removed the tailgate as suggested and added a strap instead.
And the body and tarp of the trailer have 3-tone in different tones. Standard Tamiya NATO for the body and faded colours in a mixed green, german grey and flat earth.
Welcome aboard Makinen. That will be different to the usual builds we see.
looks fantastic Ron.
And the first one is done!
I had to add a quickfix-base, since the connection between vehicle and trailer, despite being rigid, was very fragile. Now I can handle the combo, which I needed to in order to add the dust.
