Ah, I missed that. So the one you’re doing is the retooled one?
Can one compare the two?

There is also a issue with the equipment on the fenders, I think the straps going over the fuel cells are backwards?
Yes, I think the lid of the foremost zip box is flipped.
I build one of the old Tamiya kits to replicate a New Iraqi Army model a while back.
I hated the smoke launchers on the T-72 with a passion, i could never get them properly aligned. ![]()
Get some 3D baby!
This is the cover art of the kit Cookie reviewed back in 2001. DO NOT buy this kit, or the one from a company called minihobby (it is the same kit). I bought one before getting the warning from Cookie, it is at least as horrible as he said, probably worse:
The SGL’s on Tamiya’s kit are a pain, but they are on any kit that has them separate. Specific SGL’s go in specific places, you cannot interchange them.
Yes, the straps on the Tamiya T-72 fuel cells are placed on backwards, with the clasp/buckle on the incorrect side.
FYI the Tamiya kit is a T-72M turret (think T-72 Ural) on a T-72M1 hull. Generally.
Wow, that box art is bad.
Also….to make things worse…those kits are a mix of poorly pantographed Tamiya and DML kit parts (think early 1990’s DML) in one box. With no re-cutting to make the parts fit together. Just mixed sprues. And the figures included look like they were carved from soap. It was REALLY REALLY bad.
