One of the best pieces of advice I ever got was that “motivation follows action.” This is a conversion I began about a year ago, scratchbuilding a Type 653 from a Takom Type 69-II. It’s been sitting on the proverbial shelf of doom for about a year, and I’m finally getting it done.
Though the ‘casemate’ is gray like the lower hull, it’s scratchbuilt from plastic sheets, and it’s gray from the texturing putty I applied. The dozer blade, hydraulics, crane, tow bar, winch box, and top hatch are all scratchbuilt (pretty much anything white).
It’s about 95% done at this point, and I’ve already had decals made for it. I’ll throw some final shots up before painting, just couldn’t wait to show it off
This was the most difficult part of this build.. priming over all that brass, resin, copper, and bare plastic! Still needs some putty work here and there but she’s finally ready for paint and decals.
