Ukrainian Ground Troops Query

I am aware that Ukrainian troops often wear yellow or blue armbands, but is there any significance behind the bright green seen on some of the current ground troops?

As I recall they changed the band colors from to time for identification purposes and preventing RA units from infiltrating. I would imagine it is along those lines and any real reason would be explained later once the use is no longer needed.

Tank_1812,

Thanks for that … it does make sense.

Just to be certain, you understand that these are for identification purposes, right? The arm, leg, and helmet bands are used to identify friendly troops and are changed from time to time to prevent enemy deception. Different areas of the front have used different colors at the same time.

I don’t think the green has any particular significance other than yellow and blue are the Ukrainian national colors and yellow + blue = green. The Russians use red and white but I don’t think pink would be distinct enough from red and white at a distance to work.

Kurt,

Thanks for that further clarification.
Just checking … photos that I have of Ukrainian
tank crews rarely show them wearing the coloured
armbands. So would they be normally worn for the
same reason of identifying friendly forces?
